Launched last fall, our upcycled series features new silhouettes and fabrics by The New Denim Project.
Continuing our exploration of upcycled cotton fabrics from The New Denim Project, this season we are offering a new brushed twill fabric for shirting, along with their hearty, upcycled denim twill—now available in multiple trouser silhouettes.
The New Denim Project is an initiative by Iris Textiles, a Guatemalan, family-owned operation founded in 1956.
They specialize in circular manufacturing using chemical-free, natural fibers, including this series of upcycled cottons. Making yarn and fabric entirely from unused t-shirts, jeans, and other post-industrial textile waste, they do not use any virgin fibers in their collection.
In addition, the cottonseed and cotton lint leftover from the upcycling process is passed on to Finca San Jeronimo Miramar coffee growers to use as compost in cultivating specialty coffee in the highlands of Guatemala.
The fiber is then spun into new yarns in a chemical-free, dye-free process that uses minimal water and energy. (image courtesy of The New Denim Project)
UPCYCLED BRUSHED TWILL
Our newest fabric from Iris Textiles, this upcycled cotton twill is gently brushed, lending a soft hand that perfectly complements the fluid drape of the cloth. It features a slubby color profile that’s unique to this fabric.

UPCYCLED DENIM TWILL
This raised twill has a robust body and a texture that renders perfectly as our work shirt or newly launched washable trousers. Made with heavy, twisted yarns from upcycled fibers, the colors are delicately speckled for a more nuanced color profile.
